forgiveness
“If you, O Lord, kept a record of sins, O Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness…” Psalm 130:3-4
This morning I am overwhelmingly thankful for the Lord’s mercy and forgiveness. This season of life is busier than ever. I have neglected reading God’s Word before launching into my day, and the result has been a bad attitude, short temper, complaining spirit, and poor stress-management.
More often than not, my husband and kids get the brunt of my “wrath.” This week I surprised myself with the venomous words that came out of my mouth when all of my buttons were pushed. Guilt overwhelmed me. And it hit me like a truck: I need to get back to the Bible. Make it a priority over anything else. Because my heart needs nourishment from the Word of life— and everything I do flows from it.
These verses in Psalm 130 brought so much comfort and relief. Praise God he does not keep a record of our sins (which lately for me has been a very long list). I can let my negative track record go, because He has separated my sins as far as the east is from the west. I can start fresh with my husband and my kids.
Praise God his forgiveness is abundant. And praise God for his conviction.
You can start fresh today, too. If you feel like your mistakes are constantly before you, when you snap at your husband or yell at your kids, remember the God who forgives. He does not keep record of your wrongs. Run to him and confess. Run to him and ask him to help you get back into his Word, to create in you a pure heart, to help you be the wife and mother that honors Him above all else.
